What Material Do We Haul?

We remove material that has to leave the property — construction debris, demolition waste, brush and green waste, concrete, dirt, and miscellaneous jobsite cleanup. Loads can be mixed or separated; separated loads (concrete-only, dirt-only) typically cost less to dispose of. We don't handle hazardous waste, asbestos, or regulated materials.

  • Demolition debris — wood framing, drywall, roofing, siding, flooring from structure demolition
  • Concrete and masonry — slabs, footings, block, brick, and hardscape removed from demo or grading
  • Brush and green waste — cleared vegetation, branches, stumps, and organic material from land clearing
  • Dirt and soil — grading cut, excavation spoils, and post-demolition backfill surplus
  • Mixed C&D (construction and demolition) material — combined loads from full demo sites
  • Junk and property cleanup — accumulated property debris, old equipment, and miscellaneous material
  • Post-fire debris — ash, charred material, and cleanup from controlled burn or wildfire preparation
  • NOT included: hazardous waste, asbestos-containing material, lead paint debris (requires licensed abatement contractor and separate disposal)

What Does Hauling Cost in Northern California?

Hauling costs break into two parts: the truck and labor to load and transport, and the tipping fee at the disposal facility. Both vary by material type — concrete and clean fill are cheaper to dispose of than mixed C&D or green waste. These ranges reflect Northern California regional pricing.

  • Per dump-truck load (10–14 cy): $400–$1,000 total including haul and dump fee for typical mixed debris
  • Concrete-only load: $300–$600 per load — lower tipping fees at concrete recycling facilities
  • Green waste / brush load: $350–$700 per load — green waste recycling facilities in Sacramento area
  • Clean fill dirt load: $250–$450 per load — clean inert fill disposal is cheapest category
  • Mixed C&D load: $500–$1,000 per load — general C&D tipping rates at Kiefer and Republic Services
  • Bin / dumpster rental: $400–$700 per week for 20-yard container; delivery, pickup, and one dump included
  • Forward Recycling (Sacramento): accepts concrete, asphalt, C&D — recycling rates often lower than landfill
  • Republic Services and Cal-Waste: C&D transfer stations with Sacramento-area locations — accepts mixed loads

Concrete Recycling vs. Landfill — Why It Matters

Concrete is the heaviest and most recyclable demolition material. Sending it to a recycling facility instead of a landfill typically costs less and keeps usable aggregate out of the ground. On large concrete demolition jobs — pool removal, slab demo, driveway demolition — the savings add up fast.

  • Concrete recycling facilities accept clean concrete (no rebar attached in some cases, rebar-acceptable in others — confirm at intake)
  • Forward Recycling (Sacramento area): concrete and asphalt recycling — one of the primary facilities for NorCal demo concrete
  • Republic Services: accepts concrete at C&D facilities — confirm current rates and rebar policy
  • Clean concrete dump fees: $50–$150 per load at recycling facilities vs. $200–$400 at landfill for same weight
  • Crushed concrete reuse: recycled concrete aggregate (RCA) is used as road base and fill — some facilities charge less if they can recycle the load into product
  • Rebar removal: cutting rebar flush or removing it before hauling may be required at some concrete recycling facilities — confirm at time of scheduling
  • Asphalt: similarly recyclable — separate asphalt loads from concrete for best pricing at most facilities

Standalone Hauling vs. Included-in-Scope Hauling

On most full demo, clearing, or grading jobs, hauling is priced as part of the scope — not billed separately per load. When material is already on-site and just needs to be moved (accumulated debris, stockpiled brush, prior demo material), we price it as standalone load-out and hauling. Either way, the rate reflects actual volume and facility fees.

  • Included in scope: demo, clearing, and grading jobs quote hauling as part of the total — you don't get a separate haul bill
  • Standalone haul-out: material is already on-site, you need it removed — we price by estimated load count
  • Minimum charge: most standalone haul jobs have a 1-load minimum — typically $350–$500 minimum trip
  • Volume estimate: we estimate load count on-site before committing to price — over-estimates mean you pay less if loads come in under; under-estimates mean additional loads are billed at the agreed per-load rate
  • Same-day availability: for urgent property cleanup, same-day or next-day scheduling is often possible depending on crew and equipment availability
  • Sorting on-site: separating concrete, brush, and dirt before haul reduces disposal cost — we can advise on what to separate for best pricing

Frequently asked questions

How much does a dump truck load of debris cost to haul in Northern California?

Expect $400–$1,000 per standard dump-truck load (10–14 cubic yards) for typical mixed demolition and construction debris. Concrete-only loads run $300–$600 because concrete recycling facilities charge less than landfill rates. Clean fill dirt loads run $250–$450. Mixed C&D at the high end runs $700–$1,000 per load depending on material classification and facility. Haul distance from the site to the disposal facility also affects the rate.

What's the difference between hauling and debris removal?

Hauling is the transport — loading material and driving it to a disposal facility. Debris removal includes everything from the moment a structure, brush pile, or jobsite generates waste to the moment it leaves the property. On demo and clearing jobs, debris removal is the full scope: breaking out material, loading it, and hauling it. On standalone haul jobs, the material is already separated and staged — we load and haul.

Do you haul green waste and brush?

Yes — brush, tree trimmings, cleared vegetation, and organic material from land clearing are standard hauling material. Green waste goes to composting and green waste recycling facilities rather than a standard landfill, which typically means lower tipping fees than mixed C&D. Large volumes of brush from clearing jobs are often combined with chipping on-site — chipped material can sometimes be left as mulch or hauled as a denser, lower-volume load.

Can you haul concrete with rebar in it?

Yes — reinforced concrete is a standard demolition material and we haul it regularly. Some concrete recycling facilities require rebar to be cut flush or stripped before accepting the load; others accept it as-is. We confirm facility requirements at time of scheduling and advise on whether any rebar prep is needed before hauling. Loads with intact rebar may be directed to general C&D disposal rather than concrete recycling if the recycler doesn't accept it.

How quickly can you schedule a debris haul?

For standalone haul jobs with staged material already on-site, we often schedule within 2–5 business days depending on crew and equipment availability. Urgent cleanup jobs may be schedulable same-day or next-day when crew is available. Full demo or clearing jobs that include hauling as part of the scope are scheduled as part of the overall project timeline — typically 1–2 weeks out during busy season.
