Sacramento Demolition Project Examples

Project scopes NorCal Earthworks handles across Sacramento and nearby counties, from pool removal and structure demo to grading, clearing, hauling, and build-ready prep.

How We Scope Jobs

Every number starts with the property.

Demolition and earthwork pricing changes fast once access, haul distance, debris type, utilities, slope, permits, and disposal rules are known. We quote from photos, address context, and a site review instead of forcing a generic price onto a job that may not match it.

The examples below show the kinds of scopes we plan and perform. Each project is scoped around what needs to come out, what needs to stay protected, and what the next trade needs from the site when we leave.

Pool Demolition

Backyard Pool Removal

Suburban yards and ADU prep sites

Break out the pool shell, remove deck concrete when included, haul debris, place clean backfill, and rough grade the yard for landscaping, patio work, or future planning.

  • Access width and haul route
  • Partial vs full removal
  • Backfill and drainage plan
Detached garage and outbuilding part-way through teardown with the roof removed and wall framing exposed, a tracked excavator alongside and sheets of old corrugated roofing stacked on the ground.

House & Building Demolition

Structure Teardown

Infill lots, rural parcels, and rebuild sites

Coordinate utility disconnects, remove the structure and slab when scoped, separate debris streams, haul material, and leave the site ready for the next trade.

  • Permit path
  • Utility disconnects
  • Asbestos or lead review
Tracked excavator using a grapple to stack cleared brush into a pile, with bare scraped ground on one side of the frame and standing brush still uncut on the other.

Land & Brush Clearing

Overgrown Lot Clearing

Acreage, fence lines, and build sites

Clear brush, small trees, fence lines, and access paths so owners, surveyors, builders, or fire crews can safely move into the next phase.

  • Vegetation density
  • Oak or tree protections
  • Mulch-in-place vs haul-off
Ladder fuel reduction in progress — lower limbs cut from a stand of grey pine to well above head height, cut limbs stacked in a loose pile, and a chainsaw resting on a stump.

Fire Safety Clearing

Defensible Space Prep

Foothill and edge-of-SRA properties

Reduce ladder fuels, thin brush, clear access routes, and shape the work plan around CAL FIRE zone priorities and the property's actual terrain.

  • Zone 0, 1, and 2 priorities
  • Access for equipment
  • Seasonal regrowth plan

Grading & Site Preparation

Pad & Drainage Prep

ADUs, shops, garages, and small builds

Shape rough grades, prep pads, correct drainage, and hand off a cleaner site for foundations, gravel, concrete, or landscape crews.

  • Finished floor elevation
  • Cut and fill volume
  • Compaction requirements
Mini excavator with a hydraulic breaker fracturing a residential concrete driveway, slab sections tilted up and wire mesh trailing from the broken edges.

Concrete Removal

Concrete Breakout & Hauling

Driveways, patios, slabs, and demo cleanup

Sawcut or break concrete, load debris, route material to the right disposal or recycling facility, and clean up the work area for replacement scope.

  • Slab thickness
  • Rebar and disposal weight
  • Replacement grade needs
